The Paper Lantern

Dragon's Eye Adventures will offer a full-day program on Friday, October 6 from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Landing YMCA in Brunswick. This program is designed for all ages, 6 to 16. It provides a solid introduction to the Dragon's Eye experience. The fee for the 9 to 4 program is $50, with after hours from 4 to 5 PM for $10.

The story is "The Paper Lantern," a mystery that connects to the Monday, Oct. 8 adventure called "The Autumn Festival." The two adventures may be experienced together or as single-day mini adventures.

Both stories take place in Takayama, Japan, the sight of an annual festival held on the 9th and 10th of October. In "The Paper Lantern," preparations for the festival are interrupted by a ghost with dire warnings for the day. Something is amiss in the spirit world, and the detectives must investigate.

Dragon's Eye will offer a full-day mini mystery on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017. The program will run from 9 AM to 4 PM, with after hours available from 4 to 5 PM. The location is the Pilgrim House chapel of First Parish Church, at 9 Cleaveland St. in Brunswick. The fee is $50, with after hours at $10.

Our mini mystery is called "The Autumn Festival." The story leads to the annual Takayama Matsuri, the autumn festival held each year in Takayama, Japan. This beautiful celebration involves eleven elaborate floats that the town's artisans have lovingly preserve and maintained for about four centuries.

Lanterns will be lit. Mechanical puppets will come to life.  And detectives will learn some of the secrets behind the festival, secrets that date back to 5th century Japan.
