Our second session of the 2025 season operates from June 30 through July 3. We will be in Room 711 on the 2nd floor of Freeport High School (30 Holbrook St., Freeport, ME).

This is a four-day adventure for detectives entering grades 4 through 9 in the fall. The program will be closed on Friday, July 4, and after hours this week will only run on Monday through Wednesday.

Our mystery is Dreamsong of the Golden Koi.

The disappearance of an old koi from a beautiful Japanese pond leads the detectives into the Dreaming, in search of a two-tailed cat that glows with a blue light. Their journey through the watery realms of dream features strange encounters with floating ghost lights and fire-breathing cranes. Can our heroes rescue the golden koi in time for dinner, or will our team find themselves on the menu?

Our team will encounter the Old One, the First of the Nine Dreamers from Dragon’s Eye lore.

We will make Dream Boxes and Koi.

The second session of the 2025 summer will be held from July 7 through 11, with detectives entering grades 4 through 9. We will be in Room 711 on the 2nd floor of Freeport High School, at 30 Holbrook St., Freeport, ME 04032.

The mystery will be The Sea Sheep.

Kuroshima Island is known for its beautiful sea gardens, inhabited by tiny aquatic slugs known as Sea Sheep, Leaf Sheep, or Costasiella kuroshimae, if you prefer your mysteries with a hint of Latin. Our heroes will learn about this recent addition to the Dragon’s Eye pantheon of unbelievable beings. Naturally, there will be danger, mystery, and someone’s stealthy cunning to overcome, but our teams are fearless when faced with an abundance of cute to rescue.

This adventure will introduce the detectives to the Cantor and the Dancer, the second and third of the Nine Dreamers.

We will make our own Sea Sheep for this mystery. I can’t wait to photograph our tiny flock!

Our third session will run from July 14 - 18, 2025, with detectives entering grades 4 through 9. We will be in Room 711 on the 2nd floor of Freeport High School (30 Holbrook St., Freeport, ME).

The story is The Great Turtlecon.

Once a millennium, the turtles of the world host a great gathering at the most ancient of islands in the seven seas. Turtle Island is home to each of the great turtle houses, where the first eggs are laid in the crystalline sands along the shore. Word has it that this Turtlecon will be extra special, because the Blue Turtle may make a rare appearance.

This story draws upon turtle myths from many cultures, exploring the many times turtles have saved the world. It’s our turn to return the favor.

We will meet the Juggler  and the Dazzler, the fourth and fifth Dreamers.

Detectives may bring stuffy turtles with them to this session. More is more, when it comes to turtle conventions. We will make our own Turtles, to add to our collections.

Summer 2025, Session IV: The Potter's Guild

Our 4th session will take place from July 21 through 25, with detectives entering grades 5 through 9. We will be in Room 711 on the 2nd floor of Freeport High School (30 Holbrook St., Freeport, ME).

The mystery is called The Potter's Guild.

Trouble at the base of Yggdrasil, the World Tree in Norse mythology, leads our team to the literal roots of the problem, where an ancient dragon broods and lots the end of the world. He's not alone. Rumors of serpents slithering their way through the Nordic underworld reach our team, challenging their courage. Nidhoggr and an army of snakes? What could go awry once the ferie begins?

We will meet the Fashioner and the Portal Keeper, the 6th and 7th of the Nine Dreamers.

We will craft World Tree amulets and Norse maps of the cosmos.

Session V brings a new adventure for detectives entering grades 5 through 9. We will be in Room 711 on the 2nd floor of Freeport High School (30 Holbrook St., Freeport, ME).

The story is The Wyrdweaver's Glyph. It features a play within a play.

The Hero's Journey is not complete until the fireside tale unfolds. Our detectives will work alone or in pairs to write their own adventure plays. Experience with the Dragon's Eye lore is recommended, but all fantasy writers and gamers are welcome to try their hand. We will bring our tales to life at the end of the week, challenging our peers to tackle the challenges we create.

This mystery involves the Wyrdweaver, the Eight Dreamer.

We will make Wyrdweavers journals and magical artifacts that fit our stories.

Summer 2025, Session VI: The Shadow Dragon

The final week of the summer runs from Aug 4-8, 2025, with a program for detective mages entering grades 5 through 9. We will be in Room 711 on the 2nd floor of Freeport High School (30 Holbrook St., Freeport, ME).

The mystery is The Shadow Dragon.

This story explores ancient lore from the Himalayan Mountains, drawing on mythical roots from Tibet, Nepal, India, and China. The search for a legendary blue poppy leads into the mountains where the shadow dragons play in the snow. Far beyond the safety of base camp, our heroes must listen with great care to the warnings whispered by the icy winds.

This adventure will feature a brush with the Awakener, the Ninth Dragon among the Dreamers. Hopefully from afar. What could go wrong with Destroyers of Worlds in the picture?

We will make Portable Gau to house our tiny shadow dragons.
